Local 3 Helping to feeD the homeless
“Local 3 members of the Bronx Acorn Electrical Club, Sword of Light Pipe Band and the Westchester Mechanics Association came out the Monday before Thanksgiving to help feed the homeless.” Local 3 members held a Thanksgiving food drive collecting turkeys, hams, stuffing mix, rice, pasta, cranberry sauce, canned goods such as soup, fruit and vegetables. Other items collected were such things as coats and blankets.
All the food that was collected was brought to the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center. The food was help prepared by Local 3 members and local members of the community. There was over 325 platters prepared which were brought several locations in Manhattan. The number of those who are homeless is on the rise and the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center provides a nice warm meal to those in need every week.
Everyone helped out. You could feel the energy of those helping, knowing that all that is done would be helping another family in need. Collecting the food, bringing it to the community center, preparing the food, making up the portions, loading the food for delivery and cleaning up after all was done. It really makes you appreciate what you should be thankful for.
